Peter wanted to found a new capital for his new Russia, and for this purpose chose a piece of territory on the Baltic Sea that had been taken over by Russia after a war with Sweden.

Of course there is a possible explanation why only 1% of actors are really successful. There are just too many people who believe that their next performance will be the one that makes them a star!

Many girls dream of a career as an ice skater. The costumes and graceful movements make it seem a very romantic thing to do. What’s more, young skaters like Carolina Kostner attract huge numbers of fans when they compete. Nevertheless, ice skating, like most sports, is very demanding and Carolina has to work hard. She spends hours practicing complicated routines and also follows a fitness programme in the gym. Carolina is naturally slim and she doesn’t put on weight but she still has to watch her diet and make sure she eats the right food to get her through her busy schedule. She also needs plenty of sleep. Even after all the celebrations when she wins a competition, Carolina is usually in bed by 9 p.m. She travels with her family so she doesn’t usually feel lonely though she says she sometimes misses being at home with her own things. For Carolina, skating is lots of fun and she enjoys competing against other young skating stars very much.

How many children did she want to have?
Unlike most of my friends I grew up in a big, noisy, happy family so naturally, when I got married, I wanted to have lots of children. The trouble was that my husband and I were not wealthy. In fact we were quite poor so it came as an awful shock when I had triplets. Everyone in the family was very supportive of course and the babies were absolutely adorable, but it was not easy. Small children are extremely active and three little girls running around the house made me feel nervous because I was afraid they might hurt themselves. There were funny moments of course and we were both extremely thankful that our children were happy, healthy, and such good friends for one another. In the end, the money was not important!
